November 2021
From Our Regional Vice President
As November brings about the Fall season, we are reminded of all the things for which to be thankful. This year has given us the opportunity to come together as a team and work toward the common goals of providing a safe environment to Texas A&M. We are thankful for the continued support of Texas A&M and the faith they have in us to do our jobs. This enables us to continue to work and provide for all our families. As we approach the holiday season continue to take precautions at home and at work, so that we reduce any impact of any potential exposure. I ask that you consider getting vaccinated if you have not, and to get your booster timely if you have been vaccinated. Thank you for all the hard work because we could not be successful without each and every one of you!

Filling the Urns at the JK Williams Building
For more than 20 years the urns between the columns at the JKW building have been empty. They were designed to hold plant material as part of the detailed architecture of the building.
A 3D lazier scan of the inside of the urns was performs to create a fiberglass mold that is self-watering. Molds were placed in each urn this summer (2021) allowing the SSC Grounds Department to plant in them and add to the beauty of the JK Williams building. These molds allow a certain amount of retained water, however the urns still require hand watering.
The urns have been planted with seasonal color and will be changed out each season of the year or as needed.

Celebrating our RDO on Boss’s Day
In life you may have the opportunity to work under a “boss” that does a good job delegating, setting a good example, talking to his associates and even working with his or her associates. If so, you are lucky.
We have a chance to come to work every day and working with a boss that does this and more. Our “boss” RDO, Ted Dawson comes to work every day and lightens up the office when he walks in. He greets everyone before he sits down in his office to see what the day will bring. He asks about our families and how they are doing, he is very supportive and cares about all of his employees and he is the epitome of a family man who loves his home family and his work family.
Ted has been through a lot this past year and not just COVID on campus. He is a strong man with strong values and work ethics. He is not perfect, but he is perfect for our department. We celebrated him for “Boss” day and we celebrate him throughout the years because we appreciate him and we all give 100% because of him.
It is good to have a good boss, but it is great to have a great boss who has a working relationship with his teams.
We honor our RDO Ted Dawson!

Safety Training
Maintenance teamed up with custodial at Kyle Field to offer certifications for all forklift drivers. Kyle Field is a busy place with many moving parts so it is essential to safely and efficiently transport supplies and equipment from one place to another.
All participants received the safe operating procedures training prior to operating the forklift.
All employees demonstrated they could safely pick up and transport loads before being certified.
All participants will be given a 3 year certification card to use forklifts at SSC.
Great job team Athletics!
Maintenance Returns to In-Person Safety Stand Downs After Nearly Two Years
After almost two years, the Maintenance Department returned to in person Safety Stand Downs.
All associates were allowed to pick up breakfast tacos from the taco trucks before the meeting.
