March 2020
From Our Regional Vice President
This March has brought about an unprecedented challenge with the advent of the Corona Virus. During this difficult time it is important that we all communicate and follow the directions of your supervisors. Although the University has curtailed classes, Texas A&M staff, faculty and students will still be on campus and it is important that we continue to give them the services required. SSC’s continued hard work and dedication is needed now more than ever to get through this crisis and it all starts with you. Let’s all work together to follow our safety protocols and work towards a successful outcome.

Compass COVID-19
Coronavirus (COVID-19) is evolving quickly and there is a lot of uncertainty around its impact. Compass Group’s number one priority right now is to safeguard your health - and that of your families - while we continue to serve our clients and communities.
We encourage you to follow these practices as we navigate this situation together:
Protect Yourself and Others
Follow advice given by your healthcare provider and your public health authority on how to protect yourself and others from coronavirus.
- Wash your hands often
- Cover coughs and sneezes
- Clean, sanitize and disinfect frequently
- Maintain social distancing
- Stay home if you’re sick
Reduce Your Risk
- Avoiding contact with others and visits to hospitals will allow facilities to operate more effectively - and help protect you from coronavirus and other illnesses.
- Recently, the surgeon general asked hospitals to postpone all elective surgeries. For your sake and in order to allow health systems to focus on coronavirus response, we are asking that ALL NON-EMERGENCY/ELECTIVE SURGERIES BE DEFERRED UNTIL THE END OF THE YEAR.

SSC CUSTODIAL SERVICES at TEXAS A&M – “THE CORONAVIRUS” WE DON’T WANT YOU HERE!
For the last few weeks the Coronavirus, also known as COVID – 19, has made its way to Texas with the speed of lighting and the power to devastate entire continents, country, states and towns and there is no end in sight, or so you thought.
We here at SSC at TAMU have come up with a way to educate every custodial associate on the importance of what we are doing to keep our campus disinfectant and making sure our customers know we are on top of this.
We created these cards, one for every custodial associate to place on their custodial carts so when they are asked what are you all doing to prevent the Coronavirus from coming on our campus, we are able to consistently tell them what we are using, what we are doing and how often we are disinfecting touch point areas to keep our campus disinfectant.
Not only that, we are able to ask our customers to sanitize their personal items, such as their cell phones, keyboards and other personal items so that they are assured all touch point items are being disinfectant.
We had 750 cards, printed out in neon colors, large font and had them laminated for longer use. We are also having 100 cards made that will be in Spanish and those will serve the same purpose. It is our prayer that this virus will subside and will no longer be a threat to the world and especially, our world here at TAMU. Our customers, staff and faculty visitors and our SSC family are our greatest assets and we want to do whatever we can to keep us all safe.
RESEARCH PARK GETS A CLEAN UP
The turf teams have been working on clean up projects during the winter months. One area that looks particularly good is Research Park. As the weather has been warming up people have been out hammocking and playing Frisbee golf. We even had a woman come paint a picture of on of the ponds. Here are some before and after pictures.
